Stewardship in Action: Team Plants 10,000 Seedlings

September 5, 2025 | Pacific Northwest

In a powerful demonstration of its commitment to environmental stewardship, a team of over 50 employees from Northern Industrial, LLC participated in the company's annual reforestation drive last week. Partnering with a local non-profit conservation group, the team successfully planted over 10,000 native conifer seedlings in a recently harvested area of the Pacific Northwest.

Renewing the Resource

The initiative is a cornerstone of Northern Industrial's sustainability program, which emphasizes the cyclical nature of the wood products industry. By actively participating in reforestation, the company reinforces its belief that responsible harvesting must be immediately followed by renewal.

"Our business depends on the health of our forests, and it's vital that we give back," said David O'Connell, Forestry & Sourcing Manager. "This event is a favorite among our employees. It’s a tangible way for everyone, from the mill floor to the executive office, to connect with the resource we work with every day and ensure its future."

Community and Environmental Impact

The newly planted seedlings, primarily Douglas Fir and Western Hemlock, will contribute to carbon sequestration, enhance local wildlife habitats, and protect watershed health. The event also served as a valuable team-building exercise, fostering a sense of shared purpose and environmental responsibility among the staff.

Northern Industrial, LLC plans to continue and expand its reforestation efforts in the coming years, setting a goal to increase the number of seedlings planted by 20% in the next annual drive.
